Your department

The Head of Group Sustainability / Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO) is responsible for overseeing Helvetia sustainability efforts, the development, implementation, and monitoring of sustainability strategies and their integration into all relevant business areas and market units to achieve our environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals, thereby contributing to Helvetia's overall strategy.
The Group CSO reports to the Group CRO and is a member of the Group Risk Management Senior Management Team. Functional reporting is to the Group Sustainability Committee, and for the relevant topics to the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors.

Your responsibility

  • Development and implementation of the sustainability strategy for the corresponding committees at the Executive Committee and Board of Directors levels
  • Functional and direct leadership of Sustainability Officers and Sustainability Teams in market units and at group level
  • Monitoring the implementation of the sustainability strategy in market units and corporate functions and evaluating their performance in sustainability management
  • Regular exchange with all functions and committees relevant to sustainability management of the Helvetia Group, its subsidiaries, and branches
  • Ensuring the integration of sustainability goals into products, services, and business processes, including claims, in collaboration with market units and group functions.
  • Conducting and reviewing the annual materiality analysis, identifying and assessing ESG-related risks, opportunities, and sustainability impacts
  • Ensuring the implementation of relevant regulatory and legal requirements as well as all other recommendations and standards and collaborating with external stakeholders
  • Responsible for preparing the group sustainability report (non-financial report)
  • Promoting a sustainability-oriented corporate culture
  • Responsibility for internal and external stakeholder communication on sustainability topics

Your qualification

  • Degree in business administration, environmental science, sustainability or a related field
  • Extensive experience in sustainability, corporate social responsibility, risk management, or a related field, typically 6+ years
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful sustainability and risk management strategies
  • Strong leadership and strategic thinking skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Analytical skills to assess performance and identify areas for improvement
  • Ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • Strong persuasion and negotiation skills in English, German and additional languages are an advantage
